Grizzlies add Experienced Defenseman to Veteran Lineup

The Grizzlies are pleased to announce they have acquired the playing rights of 20 year old US born defenseman Matt Doran.

Doran is a veteran of three seasons with the Coulee Region Chill of the NAHL. Doran,  returning along with Grizzlies teammate TJ Friedmann, resides in St. Louis, Missouri.

The Right handed veteran is a solid addition for the Grizzlies, bringing over a 150 games of Junior hockey experience with him. “Matt is a player I have watched over the last couple of seasons, I am thrilled he is ready to make the transition to the BCHL”, Head Coach and GM Craig Didmon added. “I like the way he plays the game, he is a physical guy and skilled,  he competes hard.”

Didmon praises him as a solid defensive player and his hard nosed approach to the game, however Doran is no stranger to the offensive game as well, as he chipped in 34 points in 55 games last year for the Chill. “Matt is a well rounded defenseman and he adds to our already four veteran defense men coming back and also compliments Dayne Finnson as our other 20 yr. Old veteran D man.” commented Didmon.

“I’m very pumped up and anxious to get the season going. The Grizzlies are a first class organization and I’m ecstatic to be a part of it. They have a great track record with advancing guys onto Division 1 College Hockey, ” said Doran.

The Grizzlies are continuing to load up with talented players, looking to defend their Island Division regular season and playoff crown.  Didmon explains, “there are a large number of players returning from last season that got a taste of it (in the league semi-finals) I know they want to get back there and finish what we started, Matt is another key piece to that puzzle.”
