GRIZZLIES ACQUIRE SPENCER COPP FROM CALGARY ROYALS

July 21, 2009 Victoria Grizzlies -

The Victoria Grizzlies Hockey Club have acquired the rights of forward Spencer Copp from the Calgary Royals of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. Spencer has played 2 years in the AJHL for both the Drumheller Dragons and the Calgary Royals.

Grizzlies Head Coach Victor Gervais commented Spencer has good size at 6’ 2” tall and 200 pounds. Spencer also had an average of .5 points per game in the AJHL last season with 8 goals and 21 assists for 29 points in 57 games. Spencer also racked up 75 minutes in penalties which should add some grit to the line-up

Gervais announced that the Grizzlies training camp will start August 23rd 2009 where these new recruits will have the opportunity to prove themselves and work their way onto the roster.

With only 5-7 players coming back from last year we have to create an environment of hard work and discipline. Coach Gervais vowed he wants to have the hardest working team in the BCHL on the ice for every game this year as well as to continue our obligations in the community as in the past away from the rink.

Coach Gervais can be reached through the Grizzlies office at 250 385-1555.
