Peewee and Bantam Showcase
The purpose of the camp is to allow our Hockey Operations staff to identify future players for our organization and to help develop young players in our province. Junior identification camps are a necessary piece to becoming a Jr. A player and every experience is a positive step in the right direction to reaching your hockey goals.
The camp will consist of four ice times over the two days; with a practice and game each day.
The Victoria Grizzlies current coaching staff and scouting staff will be in attendance for the camp and the coaches will be running the on ice sessions.
You will receive an interview following the camp and receive feedback on your current strengths and areas to work on. The camp will also feature an Educational Session for you and your parents to bring clarity to the advantages of the BCHL and how it is a viable path to the NCAA/CIS and the NHL.
The Victoria Grizzlies are an organization that’s initiative is to advance players onto College and pro hockey. Developing players for hockey and life successes is our motivation; we are very proud of the countless number of players we have helped move onto the next level.

About Our Camps
Our organization has decide to take a slightly different approach to recruiting whereas we will start to sign and commit to players two to three years out so that we can get more involved in preparing our recruits for the rigors of JR A Hockey and College Hockey for that matter. We feel by having the Prospect Camp, with more individual time, we can secure and identify the next Grizzlies thru our new camp philosophy. With this introduction and proper tracking, follow-up and support we can help players at an earlier age on attaining their goals.
With this is mind it is a pleasure to identify you as one of those players we wish to invite and hope that you see this as an exciting opportunity for your future. The camp will include an up to date understanding of the NCAA program and its offerings. You will meet our entire staff and have the time to ask questions from training, school and even billeting. You will meet our senior management team and have time to tour the facility and see firsthand what we do for you the player.
The Victoria Grizzlies are proud of our tradition of putting kids on to the next level and looking at our recent track record of players such as the Benn’s, Barrie, Bozak, O’Byrne, Pettinger, DeJong, Zanon, and Voros to name just a few.
Each year at our Spring Camp we have been able to identify and sign players. For example:
- Wade Murphy – University North Dakota – Drafted into NHL by Nashville.
- Wes Myron – Boston University – Drafted by Vancouver Canucks
- Nolan DeJong – University Michigan – Drafted Minnesota Wild
- Mitch Meek – Clarkson University.
- Shawn McBride, Grizzlies captain last year
- Spencer Hunter, from the 2014 camp, a 16 year old offered a full ride scholarship to Michigan Tech.
- Cole Pickup – Nebraska Omaha University
- Tyler Welsh – Yale University
- Jake Stevens – St. Lawrence University
Current Grizzlies Roster players that attended our pre-season camps :
- Cole Pickup
- Nick Guiney
- Drayson Pears
- Tyler and Nolan Welsh
- Keyvan Mokhtari
- Sage Englund
- Spencer Hunter
- Carter Berger
- Cory Hatcher
- Jamie Rome
You can see it’s not just talk – its action.
These players have come and left entrenching culture of winning and aspiring to do great things in hockey and have enriched our organization with their presence. We have a first class facility, strong local ownership and a first rate staff that have helped many of the players that were named earlier get where they needed to go.
