Victoria, BC ~ The BCHL and Victoria Grizzlies announced their season schedules on Thursday morning with a multitude of important dates to circle on your calendar. You can click here to view the schedule.
Victoria will start the season with a two games in two nights weekend at the Hap Parker Arena in Powell River where they will look to kick off the season on the right foot. This will be the second straight home opener for the Powell River Kings in which the Grizzlies have been the visitors. Last season it resulted in an impressive come from behind 5-4 victory for the intruding Grizzlies.
The Grizzlies will kick off their 30th anniversary festivities at home on the 27th of September with a familiar foe in the Alberni Valley Bulldogs coming to town.
Home Stretches:
Some home stretches to mark down include from November 22nd to December 13th, where the Grizzlies will play six home games, with one away matchup being up in Cowichan Valley on the 30th of November.
The Grizzlies will also be at home for an extended period from January 11th until February 7th when they will play games against; Powell River, Langley, Prince George and Nanaimo respectively in that span. January 31st however will be up in Nanaimo.
Interior Trips:
Victoria will make several trips to the Interior, however not near as many as the 2023-24 season which saw the Grizzlies play in; Quesnel, Penticton, Salmon Arm, Trail and Merritt. With some changes in divisional format, and Merritt no longer being a part of the BCHL, Victoria’s only Interior Division away game is scheduled for March 14th against the Cranbrook Bucks. Victoria will play the Bucks, spend a day travelling, and than visit Surrey and Langley on back to back days.
With Prince George joining the Mainland Division, the Grizzlies will pay one visit to the Spruce Kings on both November 1st and 2nd. Prince George will be at the Q Centre on December 6th and February 1st.
No Alberta:
This season, the Victoria Grizzlies will not take on any Alberta teams during the regular season. With the new divisional format the only time the Grizzlies could see them this year is a meeting in the Fred Page Cup Final with the Alberta division teams being fully integrated into the Interior Conference side of the playoffs.
