CAMPBELL TAKES POW HONOURS

Victoria Grizzlies forward Alexander Campbell has been named the BCHL Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Campbell and the rest of the Grizzlies picked up right where they left off in the regular season, scoring 13 goals in their opening two games of the playoffs against the Alberni Valley Bulldogs. The 18-year-old finished the week with three goals and three assists in two convincing wins for Victoria.

In Game 1, Campbell scored once in the first period and another in the third, while adding two helpers as the Grizzlies cruised to an 8-3 win. He was named the game’s second star. The following night, the Chateauguay, Que. native had one goal and one assist and Victoria skated to a 5-0 win to take a two-game series lead.

After the opening weekend of the playoffs, Campbell is second in league scoring with six points, one behind teammate Alex Newhook for the lead. The Grizzlies will look to go up 3-0 in their opening-round series as they travel to Alberni Valley for Game 3 on Tuesday.
