Eddy’s hat trick propels Victoria Grizzlies past Powell River Kings

Despite not playing a game in almost two weeks due to COVID-19 protocols, Connor Eddy showed no signs of rust Friday night, scoring three goals, including the winner 19 seconds into overtime, to lead the Victoria Grizzlies to a 6-5 come-from-behind victory over the Powell River Kings at Hap Parker Arena.

Kings captain Dylan Finlay, Caleb Parkhouse, Aaron Neal, Nic Porchetta and Karter McNarland scored for Powell River. Grizzlies captain Ellis Rickwood and defenceman Justin Gibson also scored, and big winger Andrew Amousse tallied the tying goal at 13:41 of the third period.

Zac Brice was in goal for Powell River and Victoria started Cole Schwebius made 23 saves in goal for Victoria, while Zac Brice turned aside 34 Grizzlies shots in a losing cause.

The Grizzlies (15-14) and Kings (10-15-3) have won all three meetings with Powell River this season.

The Grizzlies now get the weekend off before hosting the Surrey Eagles on Tuesday night at The Q Centre.

LOOSE PUCKS: The ­Grizzlies were again minus injured defenceman Isack Bandu, who is expected back from an upper-body injury at the end of month.
