Coquitlam, BC ~ The Victoria Grizzlies head to the mainland for their first away games of the post season when they visit the Express Tuesday night for game three of the Coastal Conference Quarter Final up two games to none.
Victoria is coming off a weekend that went about as good as they could have hoped, winning game one 4-3 in overtime on Friday and then 3-1 on Saturday, putting themselves in the drivers seat of their first round meeting with Coquitlam. This is the second straight year that Victoria has gone up 2-0 in the first round as they did the same thing against Nanaimo last season. They would go on to win that series in five games.
The Grizzlies will again be without Oliver Auyeung-Ashton as he missed game two as a late scratch due to illness. The same story goes this evening with Auyeung-Ashton not being available after a 46 save performance in the game one victory. Thankfully for Victoria, they are in more than safe hands with 2004 born netminder Kyle Kelsey getting the nod for a second straight game. Kelsey was splendid on Saturday making 39 saves on the 40 shots he saw.
Although Victoria is up handily in the series 2-0, neither game has been easy and have been about as close as they could possibly be. Victoria will have to be careful against a starving for a victory Coquitlam team who played Victoria hard at home this season. Victoria lost both visits to the Poirier Sport and Leisure Centre this year first 3-2 in overtime and then 4-3 in shootouts on the last game of the season.
Puck drop goes at 7:00 PM tonight with Victoria looking to take a strangle hold on this series.
