Victoria, BC ~ The Victoria Grizzlies return home to host the Powell River Kings this evening at 7:00 PM to conclude their seven game season series after a 7-4 victory last night in Powell River.
Last night saw a pair of Grizzlies pick up a multi goal game and that duo was Malcolm Green (7/8) and Tom Molson (10/11). Also finding the back of the net was; Easton Kovacs (3), Max Silver (2) and Stone Rolston (9). As seen, it was another high scoring game for Victoria who is averaging 3.91 goals per game this season and an astounding 4.5 per game since the start of the second half. They hope that their high octane offense, combined with Powell River’s defensive woes, will bode well for them this evening.
The Grizzlies come into tonight with a 25-11-7 record which is 2nd in the Coastal Conference. They are one point ahead of Surrey (26-14-4) and two points ahead of Cowichan Valley (26-15-3) while holding a game in hand of both of those squads.
The Grizzlies have had their fair share of success against the Kings this year as they hold a 5-1-0 record against the team in the basement of the conference (8-31-6). The Kings were relegated from playoff hockey last night with the Grizzlies beating them, however you can be sure that they will be heavily motivated against a team that effectively “ended” their season last night. The game was also a chippy affair in the third yesterday making for what should be an entertaining meeting.
Victoria will also be tasked with shaking out the travel legs as they had to be up and at em early this morning to catch the first ferry home to Victoria to travel to their own home game. It is a rare feat to be able to say that.
