Match-Up Info

  • The Grizzlies (21-9-6) (3rd in the Coastal Conference) and the Clippers (18-18-2) (7th in the Coastal Conference) meet for the fifth time this season
  • Victoria leads the season series with a 3-0-1 record against the Harbor City squad 
  • Victoria took the first meeting 3-2 on October 4th in Nanaimo before grabbing the next one just over a month later on November 9th 5-2 at the Q Centre in Victoria. The Grizzlies also won handsomely 7-2 on hostile ice on December 14th, however the Clippers have the most recent win just one week (January 31st) ago 5-4 in overtime.

Last Meeting – January 31, 2025: Vic 4 at Nan 5 (OT)

Victoria headed up island to visit the Clippers for a fourth meeting of the year and blew three different leads, squandering a good chance to jump further ahead in the standings. Reegan Hiscock gave them the lead at 10:18 of the first before Nanaimo’s Dylan Kinch tied things up on the power play heading into the first intermission. Seamus Latta had the lone goal of the second giving Victoria a 2-1 lead going to the third. Tanner Bruender got the Clippers even early in the second before the Grizzlies scored twice in 50 seconds to be up by two halfway through the third. Those goals came from Jacksenn Hungle and Seamus Latta. Chase Hull pulled Nanaimo within one before they got a late tying goal with the net empty at 18:39 from Makaio Van Tassel. Dylan Kinch ended things in overtime for his second of the game on a two on one wrist shot low blocker on Kyle Kelsey.

Victoria obliterated Prince George with a one sided victory which saw them find the back of the net five times (setting a season record for the team) in the second period. Goals for the Grizzlies came from; Tom Molson (8), Dan D’Alessandro (3), Reegan Hiscock (18), Landon Mackie (12), Sam Ward (2) and Finn Kallay (5). Oliver Auyeung-Ashton made 26 saves on 27 shots in goal for Victoria and improved his record to 11-2-2. Julian Cull was suspended for a boarding penalty he received in the second period. Prince George’s Isaac Holt cross checked high after that board and received a 5 minute major and game misconduct for the play. He was also subsequently suspended for three games.
