Game Two Preview: Grizzlies at Capitals Coastal West Division Semi Final

Duncan, BC ~ The Victoria Grizzlies hit the ice for game 2 of the Coastal West Division Semi-Final tonight at 6:00 p.m., looking to tie the series up at one apiece.

The Capitals took game one last night, 5-1, after pulling away in the final 10 minutes of the game, scoring three times in that span. Yesterday was certainly a closely contested game, which saw Victoria trail 2-1 with just ten minutes remaining, before an own-zone turnover cost them dearly.

Cowichan got tallies from Massimo Fazio, Tristan Gravenor, Tyler Rowland, Brendyn Van Oene, and Havryil Simchuk, while Victoria’s only goal came from Carter Oakenfold on a power play early in the second period.

There were lots of positives for the Grizzlies, who controlled the run of play through forty minutes and certainly didn’t look out of their depth. They negated any Cowichan Valley odd-man rushes while also being disciplined and staying out of the box. They did, however, struggle to create anything offensively.

Tonight will be a big test with the Grizzlies looking to steal one on the road and tie the series up.

Puck drop goes at 6:00 p.m. tonight. The game is free to listen to live with Tom Wilke on the Grizzlies Audio Streaming App on MixLR, presented by Canada Action, or to watch with a subscription to FloHockey, selecting the “Away” stream to hear the Grizzlies broadcast.
