The Grizzlies are coming off a dominant home opener where they defeated their rivals from the Alberni Valley 9-3. The game was wildly entertaining, and the crowd responded with a noticeable buzz in the Q Centre all night long.
Drew Hockley continued his torrid pace to start the season. Fresh off being named the 2nd Star of the Week in the BCHL, Hockley picked up right where he left off in Powell River as he notched 2 goals and 2 assists in the win. Hockley now leads all BCHL scorers with 9 points in 3 games.
Not to be outdone in the home opener was forward Regan Hiscock who notched a hat trick in the win and now has 5 goals, tied with Hockley for the league lead.
For the Caps, newcomer Camden Bajzer is coming off a hat trick of his own in a big 8-2 win over the Powell River Kings. The Shaker Heights Ohio native has 7 points in the Caps first 4 games to pace their attack.
It’s a new look version of the Capitals from last season who made some major off- season changes from the staff down to the roster. Cam Keith left the Surrey Eagles after winning a BCHL championship last season to take the over Cowichan Valley. Keith wasted little time making moves and re-tooling the roster.
Last season, the Grizzlies were 5-2-0-0 against the Caps and have won 7 straight at the Q Centre against the Capitals.
