The Victoria Grizzlies have signed forward Matthew Dowdall for the 2026–27 BCHL season.
Dowdall, a 6’3”, 210-pound forward, brings a combination of size, physicality, and offensive production to the Grizzlies lineup. He recorded 19 goals and 23 assists for 42 points in 32 games this past season with the Vancouver NE Chiefs.
A hard-nosed player who plays with pace and edge, Dowdall has shown the ability to impact games both on the scoresheet and physically, making him a difficult matchup for opposing defenders.
Matthew also brings a familiar connection to the Grizzlies organization, as the younger brother of current forward Michael Dowdall.
“We’re excited to add Matthew to our group,” said Grizzlies head coach & general manager Geoff Grimwood. “He’s a big, strong forward who competes hard and produces offensively. Players with that combination are tough to find, and we believe he’ll be a player our fans will enjoy watching.”
Dowdall and his new Grizzlies teammates will report to Victoria in early September to open training camp. Season tickets for the 2026-2027 season are on sale now.
