Grizzlies and Clippers Lock Horns For A Third Time

Nanaimo, BC ~ The Victoria Grizzlies make the trip up Island to visit the Nanaimo Clippers tonight at 7:00 p.m. from the Frank Crane arena.

This evening marks Victoria’s second trip to the Frank Crane this season, with the first coming on Halloween Night. That one was spooky for the visitors who were shutout 3-0 on that occasion. More recently, the Grizzlies fell 6-5 to the Clippers at home, directly before the Christmas break, meaning that Nanaimo is 2-0 in this all-Coastal West Division series this season.

After a hard-fought 4-2 loss on home ice last night, the Grizzlies pray that the road will continue to be a place of solace for them. They are now 5-10-0 at home while being 10-6-1 away from the Q Centre. Those backwards stats are somewhat confusing, but the focus is on the here and now for Victoria, who wants to end this evening back at .500. They are fourth in the Coastal West Division with a 15-16-1 line.

Nanaimo is directly off a 7-2 pumping of the Powell River Kings at home last night, making for their second straight game with a seven goal output. They defeated the Cranbrook Bucks on the road 7-3 last Saturday night in a rare one-off road trip to the Interior. They have now won three in a row coming into tonight and hold a 17-12-2 record, good enough for third in the Coastal West.

Tonight’s game is free to listen on the Grizzlies Audio Streaming App on mixLR with Tom Wilke and also available to watch online with a subscription to FloHockey. Puck drop is at 7:00 p.m. and the Van Isle Windows Pre-Game Show starts at 6:50.
