Victoria, BC ~ The Victoria Grizzlies announced on Friday afternoon their roster for opening night of the BCHL season.
The BCHL will kick off this evening at 6:00 PM PST with defending champion Brooks Bandits visiting Spruce Grove in their newly opened Thompson Family Arena. On Vancouver Island and in the Coastal Conference, Victoria will not be active on the opening Friday of the season. They await patiently for tomorrow evening when they begin their season in Coquitlam and then in Surrey late Sunday afternoon.
While they wait, they announced what their opening night roster will be comprised of, as they will carry a heavy squad of 15 forwards, eight defenseman, and two goaltenders. They begin the season with eight 20-year-old skaters and one in goal, while mixing in high-end young talent with the likes of Max Silver (2007), Parker MacDougall (2007), Reece Gault (2007), and Hunter Ashton (2008). Eight players have Major Junior experience, and 11 have either BCHL or “Junior A” games under their belt. Victoria will carry just four “true” rookies (Paolo Frasca, Justin Watson, Levi Eiter & Hunter Ashton).
Victoria is looking to build off a strong 2024-25 season where they came up short in the Coastal Conference Final to the Chilliwack Chiefs, and it all begins tomorrow night with puck drop at 7:00 PST at the Poirier Sport & Leisure Centre.
