GRIZZLIES CHALK UP ANOTHER VICTORY

VICTORIA 4 COWICHAN VALLEY 2

Myles Fitzgerald, Chase Kaiser and Myles Powell scored third-period goals to propel the Victoria Grizzlies to a 4-2 win over the Cowichan Valley Capitals on Saturday night in Duncan.

Fitzgerald's power-play goal broke open a 1-1 tie as the Grizzlies won for the second straight night to improve to 17-7-0-2 on the B.C. Hockey League season and remain in first place in the Island Division.

The Grizzlies were all over the Capitals in the first period, outshooting the hosts 10-1 at one point and 15-7 after the opening 20 minutes, but trailed 1-0 on Keyler Bruce's goal.

Grizzlies rookie Dante Hahn knotted it up at 1-1 early in the second and that's the way the two teams went to the dressing rooms.

Fitzgerald and Kaiser scored 1: 09 apart in the first 3: 25 of the third before Jesse Neher replied with the other Cowichan goal.

Brady Rouleau drew the starting assignment in net for Victoria against his former team, while Derek Dun stood tall for the Capitals, facing 32 shots at the Island Savings Centre.

IN THE DEN: The Grizzlies are back at it this afternoon at 1: 30 as they host the Langley River-men on teddy bear toss day. Fans are asked to bring a stuffed animal and toss it on the ice after Victoria's first goal. The toys should be wrapped in a plastic bag as they will be donated to charity.
