Grizzlies Keyvan Mokhtari Accepts Scholarship to Colorado College

The Victoria Grizzlies are pleased to announce that Keyvan Mokhtari has made a commitment to play his NCAA Division 1 hockey for the Colorado College Tigers. The 18 year old will join the Tigers after a minimum of one more season, and the possibility of two more seasons, with the Victoria Grizzlies. This marks the 7th scholarship awarded to a Grizzlies player this season

Mokhtari has had two impressive seasons for the Grizzlies already, not only putting consistent numbers on the board, but also has been a fan favourite with this exceptional level of speed and skill. You can argue the Mokhtari, aka ‘the Roadrunner’, could be the fastest and most exciting player the BCHL has to offer.

“Moki is one player that when he hits full stride with the puck, he is too fast for the rest of the players on the ice. You can see the fans stand up in their seats when he is on the rush and he is very exciting to watch. I haven’t seen that kind of speed in a Junior player in Victoria since Russ Courtnall when he played for the Cougars back in the early 80’s. Just the fact that we will have him in uniform for at least one more season is great for our hockey club,” added Head Coach and GM of the Grizzlies, Craig Didmon.

Offensively Mokhtari he has shown he can score often at the BCHL level (30 goals over the last two seasons) and he will obviously continue to add to those numbers next season and possibly the next; what a bonus for the Victoria Grizzlies organization.
