Grizzlies Kick Off 2024 Main Camp

Victoria, BC ~ The Victoria Grizzlies kick off their 2024 Main Camp in collaboration with Verity Construction starting on September 1st.

The Grizzlies are looking to improve off an impressive 2023-24 campaign which saw them fall in six games to the eventual champion Surrey Eagles in the second round. Main camp scrimmages will be held at 5 pm Monday to Thursday.

Victoria’s main point of recruitment has been on the backend which sees just one player (Drew Hockley) returning to the team. Size has been a common theme with recruits like Dennison Monahan and Carter Hynes who both stand in at 6 foot 5.

Bear Country will be excited to see some familiar faces returning to the team to lead by example. Notable returnees to the team include; 2024 BCHL Rookie of the Year; Chase Pirtle, fan favorite goaltender; Oliver Auyeung-Ashton and locals; Jacksenn Hungle, Julian Cull and Landon Mackie.

After what has been an action packed and franchise altering off season, the Grizzlies could not be more excited to be hitting the ice again in preparation for the 2024-25 BCHL season. This year will mark 30 years since the franchise entered into the BCHL under the name “The Victoria Salsa”. Promotions involving throw backs are to be announced soon.

The biggest off season move by the Grizzlies has been partnering with Maxxam Insurance to make all local youth under the age of 18 free with an adult. Relationships like this within the community are what makes Grizzlies hockey what it is.
