GRIZZLIES MAKING WESTHILLS ARENA THEIR HOME

Thursday, September 3, 2015 – Submitted by Victoria Grizzlies

For one night, the Victoria Grizzlies are taking their fast-paced style of hockey to the Westhills Arena in Langford.

The team’s sixth pre-season game, part of the intense preparation for the 2015-16 BCHL season, will be played at 7pm on Saturday, September 5 at the Westhills Arena (1089 Langford Parkway, in Langford), with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs providing the opposition. This is the second game in a home-and-home series with the Bulldogs, coming off a Friday game in Alberni Valley.

The Grizzlies have been holding camp and pre-season games at JDF Arena, for the most part, with the ice not yet installed in the team’s traditional home, the Q Centre.

Saturday’s game is the last time to see the Grizzlies play in Victoria this month, as the team opens its season with five games away from home. Friday, Sept. 11 is the season-opener in Duncan against the Cowichan Valley Capitals, followed a week later with a game in Port Alberni. The following weekend, Sept. 26-27, the Grizzlies are in Chilliwack for the
BCHL Showcase, then return to the Q Centre on Oct. 1 with the home opener against the Coquitlam Express, a 7pm start.

On Saturday at Westhills Arena, special events will be part of the activities, including food, beer sales, and a new venue to watch the Grizzlies and Bulldogs renew their rivalry.
