Victoria, BC ~ We are utterly devastated to be made aware of the passing of longtime Alberni Valley Bulldogs broadcaster Evan Hammond.
“Hammer” was, for many of us, a colleague, counterpart, entertainer, and, most importantly, a true friend.
Our games against the Bulldogs were always painted in a marvellously chaotic and beautiful fashion due to Hammer’s iconic voice and spirit.
A three-time BCHL Broadcaster of the Year, the respect Evan had from his peers and coworkers only went to prove how important he was as a personality in the Alberni Valley and in the BCHL as a whole. We can only strive to replicate his unwavering dedication to his craft and beloved Bulldogs.
It is with heavy hearts that we take to the ice this evening, but if there is one thing we can tell you for certain, it’s that we will be carrying a 🔨 with us in our hearts.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and many loved ones during this time.
Rest in peace, Evan Hammond. You shall be sorely missed.
