Victoria, BC ~ The Victoria Grizzlies announced on Thursday evening that they have traded ’05 defenseman Brady Smith to the Nanaimo Clippers in exchange for ’05 Forward Alex Hebblethwaite.
It is reunion of sorts for the Grizzlies and Alex as Victoria had originally signed Hebblethwaite during the off season from the OJHL. Hebblethwaite was strong for the Grizzlies during the pre-season however the need for a defenseman was looming large and he was dealt to Trail for Brady Smith.
Hebblethwaite would score two goals and add four points in his first five games with the Smoke Eaters. For whatever reason, things didn’t work out in Trail and he was released from the team, leaving the door wide open for the Nanaimo Clippers to pick up. The Clippers would reap the rewards right away as Hebblethwaite found the back of the net four times in his debut against the Surrey Eagles. He comes into tonight now with eight goals and 12 points in 11 games during the 2024-25 season split between the Smokies and Clippers.
Victoria is pleased to have the RIT commit back in black and gold and want to wish Brady the best of luck in Nanaimo!
