Victoria, BC ~ The Victoria Grizzlies announced on Thursday afternoon that they are excited to announce the signing of 2004 born defenseman, Daniil Dolzhenko
Daniil, from Omsk, Russia, joins the Grizzlies after having played 116 career NAHL games where he tallied 13 goals, 62 points and 154 penalty minutes
“I am excited for something new,” said Daniil, “I have heard great things and I can’t wait to be a part of it.”
The Grizzlies saw 5 defenseman graduating this past, making the soon to be 20 year old Dolzhenko a welcome veteran presence
“Once I am comfortable with the guys I like to talk a lot and always be there for the guys,” Daniil added when asked about his leadership qualities.
Dolzhenko carved his game after fellow Russian, Ivan Provorov, and moved alone to Canada at the young age of 13 to join the Notre Dame Hounds CSSHL program in Saskatchewan. “I did a camp in Vancouver when I was 13 and went home and told my parents that I want to move to Canada as the next step in hockey journey,” the Russian D-man said when asked about his hockey journey.
“I am a two way puck moving defenseman who likes offense, but also has a good stick. I also like to get physical and gritty,” he would close with.
Welcome to Bear Country Daniil!
