Vernon, BC ~ The Victoria Grizzlies took down the Vernon Vipers 2-1 in overtime on Wednesday night from the Kal Tire Place in Vernon thank to a Jacksenn Hungle power goal in the 4th period to lift the visitors to victory.

Victoria jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Chase Pirtle found the back of the net in the first seven minutes. Pirtle 6th of the year came by way of Oscar Pantzare and Tobias Pitka.

A very close game would follow and Vernon would tie the game in the second period.

No scoring in the third meant a second straight overtime game for the Grizzlies and a goalie interference in the first 1:10 against the Vipers put Victoria on the powerplay.

Drew Hockley found Chase Pirtle on the right side and his shot was stopped but Jacksenn Hungle would not be denied on the rebound to send the bench into a frenzy.

Wednesday was a big win for Victoria who are starting a 3 game road trip and that is certainly the ideal way to kick things off.

Oliver Auyeung-Ashton was named first star of the game, making 31 saves on 32 shots.

Victoria will travel Thursday to Prince George and play Friday and Saturday night against the Spruce Kings from the Kopar Memorial Arena.
