VICTORIA, B.C. – The Victoria Grizzlies’ commitment to developing players for the next level continues to be recognized across the hockey world, as seven current and former Grizzlies are participating in NHL Development Camps this summer.
Representing six NHL organizations, the group includes:
- Mikus Vecvanags (2025-26, returning for 2026-27) – Montreal Canadiens
- Richard Baran (2023-24) – Toronto Maple Leafs
- Tobias Pitka (2023-25) – Toronto Maple Leafs
- Hoyt Stanley (2021-22, 2022-23) – Ottawa Senators
- Reegan Hiscock (2022-25) – Florida Panthers
- Ellis Rickwood (2020-22) – Dallas Stars
- Oliver Auyeung-Ashton (2024-25) – Calgary Flames
NHL Development Camps provide organizations with an opportunity to work with many of their top young prospects as they continue their journey toward professional hockey.
For the Grizzlies, having seven players represented across six NHL organizations is another milestone that reflects the organization’s commitment to player development and preparing athletes for opportunities at the highest levels of the game.
“Our mission has always been to help young men reach their full potential, both as hockey players and as people,” said Grizzlies President David Michaud. “Seeing seven Grizzlies represented at NHL Development Camps this summer is something our entire organization is proud of. It’s a credit to the players, our coaching staff, our support staff and everyone who contributes to creating an environment where players can continue to grow and earn opportunities.”
Stanley spent two seasons in Victoria before becoming an NHL Draft pick and signing with the Ottawa Senators. Baran, Pitka, Hiscock, Rickwood and Auyeung-Ashton each continued their development after their time with the Grizzlies and have now earned opportunities with NHL organizations. Vecvanags returns to Montreal’s camp following an outstanding first season in Victoria and is set to return to the Grizzlies for the 2026-27 BCHL season.
