Victoria, BC ~ Earlier this week it was announced that 2006 born Grizzlies forward; Tobias Pitka had been selected for team Slovakia’s 2025 World Junior Championships Selection Camp.
Tobias Pitka is no stranger to donning the Slovakian national jersey but this year he has a chance to do it on one of the biggest platforms in International hockey. Pitka, who has played over 20 games for Slovakia in different international competitions, has had a great start to his 2024-25 campaign registering 15 points in 15 games for the Grizzlies. Last year as a rookie he found the back of the goal five times and added 14 assists for 19 points.
“It’s an honor,” said the Boston College commit, “Every time I play for my country it’s great and I’m super happy.” Last year during the 2023-24 campaign, Tobias played for team Slovakia in the Hlinka Gretzky Cup where he had a goal and an assist in four games. He also played four games in the 2024 World Junior A Challenge.
“I just want to play my game and be the best I can and try to make the team,” he would add.
The Grizzlies are at home this weekend hosting the West Kelowna Warriors on Friday night and than the Coquitlam Express on Saturday. Saturday also marks their Canadian Armed Forces night where the Grizzlies will wear special edition jerseys.
