TEAM WORK = SUCCESS

The (2-2-0) Victoria Grizzlies looked to spoil the (3-0-0) Nanaimo Clippers home opener on Friday at Frank Crane Arena and after a full 60 minutes the Grizzlies did such that winning 3-2 in front of a large crowd.

Clippers would get on the board first after a bad turnover Jacob Hanlon would get it past Nic Renyard, however shortly after Victoria would tie things up by Jesse Schwartz.

In the second period Grizzlies goaltender Nic Renyard kicked away everything he faced while Shawn McBride would net the only goal in the period to take the 2-1 lead heading into the third period.

The Grizzles would capitalize on a powerplay where Gerry Fitzgerald would get a pretty wrap around goal assisted by Myles and Nick. Then the Grizzles would get into some penalty trouble late in the third and the Clippers would jump on the opportunity to get within one goal, but that was all she wrote. Victoria beats Nanaimo 3-2 to spoil their home opener.

A full team effort was given by every player to get the victory.
Grizzlies are in Cowichan Saturday, followed by their home opener on September 27th.
