Victoria, BC ~ Victoria Grizzlies fell on Saturday night from the Q Centre 6 to 5 in overtime against the Trail Smoke Eaters.
Victoria, open the game Strong with two goals in the first five minutes from Oscar Pantzare on the power-play and then Landon Mackie less than a minute later.
Trail with then score 3 unanswered in the first to lead 3-3. However, Victoria would tie the game heading into the first intermission on Chase Pirtle’s second of the year.
Victoria would take an early second period lead on Chase Pirtle’s second of the game this one also on the power platy. Victoria would go two for three on the power play tonight.
Trail, as it was a theme all night, was able to battle back and tie the game before the second intermission.
Victoria would again start a period strong and they would find the back of the goal on a nice passing play. Chase Pirtle found Tom Molson for a one timer putting Victoria up 5-4 in the first three minutes of the third.
Trail would not be held down as they would tie the game just less than a minute later on a shorthanded goal from Jason Stefanek.
This game would need overtime and Trail would get an early power play and capitalize on the four on three opportunity, giving Victoria their second loss in a row.
Victoria is back in action next week from the BCHL Showcase held in Chilliwack starting on Wednesday. They will take on the Penticton Vees and then on Thursday the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.
