Victoria Grizzlies defeat Clippers in BCHL action

The Victoria Grizzlies defeated the Nanaimo Clippers 6-1 in B.C. Hockey League play in Port Alberni on Saturday night to move to 12-3 atop the Island Division table. The Clippers fell to 6-9.

Henri Schreifels on the power play, with his 10th of the season, Andrew Amousse, Devon deVries, Eddie Yan, Connor Eddy and Isack Bandu on the power play scored for the Grizzlies. Nanaimo forward Thomas Maia spoiled Grizzlies goaltender Carter Woodside’s shutout bid in the third period. Victoria outshot Nanaimo 47-31.

The Cowichan Valley Capitals (4-9-2) edged the Alberni Valley Bulldogs (8-3-4) 2-1 earlier in the day at Weyerhaeuser Arena on Riley Wallack’s game winner in the third period.
