Victoria Grizzlies overwhelm Cowichan Valley Capitals

The Victoria Grizzlies (9-3), who had a six-game B.C. Hockey League winning streak snapped in its previous game, got back to their victorious ways on Friday night.

The Grizzlies (9-3) defeated the Cowichan Valley Capitals 5-1 at Weyerhaeuser Arena in Port Alberni. The last-place Capitals fell to 2-9-1 in the B.C. Division.

Chase McInnis, Jake Veilleux, Henri Schreifels, Matteo Turrin and Matthew Wood scored for the Grizzlies. Andrew Braun added three assists.

Cory Liu replied for Cowichan Valley.

The Grizzlies play the Nanaimo Clippers (5-5) this afternoon while the Alberni ­Valley Bulldogs (6-2-2) meet Cowichan Valley tonight.

Each team in the BCHL Island Division is playing 20 games, all in the Weyerhaeuser Arena hub at Port Alberni.
