Victoria Opens Up Home Scheduling With Date With Bulldogs

Victoria, BC ~ The Victoria Grizzlies play their first home game of the year tonight at the Q Centre with puck drop at 7:00 PM and a date with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs looming large.

Victoria is 3-1-0 to begin the season and coming off a weekend in Powell River where they did not surrender a goal. They picked up a well deserved 1-0 overtime win on Saturday and then a dominant 6-0 victory the following Sunday late afternoon. A four point weekend is hard enough to do on the road but doing it with no blemishes were certainly an impressive feat and leaves plenty for the Grizzly faithful to be excited about coming home for the first time.

The Bulldogs of Alberni Valley are 1-2-0 to begin the year with a 5-2 win to kick off the season. They then lost 4-2 against the Nanaimo Clippers and a 3-2 loss against the Cowichan Valley Capitals. Jacob Terpstra (returning for his third year in Alberni) has unsurprisingly lead the way early for them. He is near the top of the BCHL leaderboards in most offensive categories with two goals and seven points through his first three games of the season. The Alaska-Anchorage committed forward was their most dangerous player last season and looks like he will be much of the same this year.

Victoria was dominant against the Bulldogs last season including a 9-3 win in their 2024-25 home opener. The Bulldogs will look to exercise some of the Grizzlies demons that haunted them in that season as they found themselves on the bottom of several one sided defeats (they were outscored 37-18 by their South Island counter parts). Historically the teams have played each other very hard and have also had one of the more intense rivalries in the league. Last year, however, the Grizz got the last laugh.

Victoria has gotten goals from everywhere to begin the year quiet literally with 17 of their 22 skaters so far this year recording a point. They also have had 12 different goal scorers showing some impressive offensive ability up and down the lineup which should serve them well as the season rolls on.

Puck drop goes at 7:00 P.M. pst with tickets available for purchase by CLICKING HERE.
