The Grizzlies responded with two quick goals late in the period from Lucas Clark at 14:50, his third of the playoffs, and then Timothy Friedmann’s first of the playoffs at 16:11, a powerplay marker vaulting the visitors into a 2-1 lead at the intermission.

Nick Guiney expanded Victoria’s lead, potting his first goal of the playoffs 3:57 into the second period.

The Kings had a quick answer, drawing back to within a goal on Carter Turnbull’s third of the playoffs at 6:03 of the middle frame.

The score remained 3-2 in favour of Victoria until Kyle Betts opened the third period the same way as the first, burying his second goal of the game and third of the playoffs, 1:59 into the final stanza, tying the game at three.

Cam Donaldson broke the tie with his fourth goal of the playoffs 8:30 into the third, putting Powell River back in front, 4-3.

The lead was only momentary as Friedmann answered back with his second goal of the night just 35 seconds later, squaring the game at four midway through the final period.

The goaltenders, Matthew Galajda for the Grizzlies and Powell River’s Brian Wilson held serve for the remainder of regulation, sending the game into overtime for the second time in the series.

Every period of regulation saw early goal-scoring and overtime was no different. Guiney ended the game quickly with his second goal of the night, just 33 seconds into overtime.

Guiney and Friedmann led the way for Victoria with two goals each while Tyler Welsh chipped in with two assists.  Betts paced the offence for the Kings with his two goals.

Galajda stopped 29 of 33 shots in the win for the Grizzlies while Wilson allowed five goals on 41 shots in the loss for Powell River.

Each team scored once on the powerplay, with Victoria going 1 for 4 and the Kings finishing 1 for 3.

Game five of the series will be played in Victoria on Thursday at 7:00pm at the Q Centre.
