Grizzlies Invade All Star Weekend

Penticton, BC ~ Friday and Saturday will mark a very rare weekend off for 19 Grizzlies, but for 5 of them it will include a trip up to Penticton to take part in a the BCHL All Star Weekend festivities.

The weekend includes a multitude of fun events:

  1. Top Prospects Game
  • The BCHL will be hosting another “Top Prospects” Game from the South Okanagan Event Centre. This game includes draft eligible players for the upcoming draft as well as young players in the league making a strong impression.
  • The Top Prospects game will include 4 Grizzlies; Owen Bresson (G), Richard Baran (D), Tobias Pitka (F) and Chase Pirtle (F).
  • The game is in partnership with “Drive Analytics” in order to provide cutting edge player analytics during the game

2. BCHL All Star Skills Competition

  • All all stars will have a chance to compete in at least one event from 12-1 PM PT at the Penticton Community Outdoor Rink
  • Events include; fastest skater, breakaway challenge and hardest shot

3. Alumni and Friends Game

  • The BCHL will be hosting another edition of their alumni and friends game on Saturday at 1:00 PM PT at the Penticton Community Outdoor Rink
  • Skaters include; Scott Gomez (South Surrey Eagles 1996-97/Stanley Cup Champion), Kyle Turris (Burnaby Express 2005-07/3rd overall pick in the 2007 draft), Dave Babych (Vancouver Canucks alumni/19 year NHL Veteran), Dave Thomlinson (Summerland Buckaroos/Richmond Sockeyes 1985-87/4 year NHL veteran and current Vancouver Canucks colour commentator) and a smattering of other NHL players/hockey celebrities.

4. BCHL All Star Game

  • The All Star game will be in 3v3 tournament format at 2:30 from the Penticton Community Outdoor Rink
  • The game will include Victoria’s own Nathan King representing the Grizzlies in the Coastal Conference
  • Tickets to all events on the outdoor rink and free and first come first serve. Be wary however as space and seating is limited
