Shawn O’Malley came to the Victoria Grizzlies via the Shreveport Mudbugs of the North American Hockey League at the January 10th trade deadline.
O’Malley, born London, Ontario, played for the U18 Victory Honda Club in Detroit where he was teammates with current Grizzlies TJ Friedmann and Justin Michaelian. The 6’0, 200 lb winger played on the left side with Friedmann and Michaelian last season. “Shawn is a 200ft forward that finishes checks and plays with an edge and is a great teammate,” commented Grizzlies Head Coach/GM Craig Didmon.
Not only a reliable defensive forward, O’Malley also scored in his first regular season game with the Grizzlies, as well as his first playoff game. Fans are quickly appreciating our Mudbug turned Grizzlie!
