2016 Grizzlies Training Camp Updates

The Victoria Grizzlies are heading into a double header this weekend vs. the defending Island Division Champs, the Nanaimo Clippers. The Grizzlies will look to keep the goals coming and with a 4-0 exhibition season start, optimism is growing for this veteran laden team.

Down to only two more releases, Coach Didmon is looking to add one more player to this talented roster. Friday night will see the return of 20 yr. old defenseman Brett Stirling who was was recently give a clean bill of health and is now able to start the season. Stirling should add a boost to the already stingy and physical D Core.

Getting an opportunity for a game on Friday will be 15 yr. old 2016 WHL first round draft pick and Victoria native Jacson Alexander. Alexander, due to his age, is only eligible to play in five regular season games this season. He will spend the season with Shawinigan Lake School in the CSSL. Grizzlies fans will hope they see him lace them up permanently for the Victoria team next season.

Saturday evening in Sooke will see the Grizzlies play their last Exhibition Game before the regular season. Coach Didmon stated, “Evaluating should be complete and this will be what we think is our best lineup! Now is the time to see what we look like with all the pieces on the ice together.”
