Duncan, BC ~ The Victoria Grizzlies (23-22-3) are in Duncan this evening at 7:00 p.m., taking on their over-the-Malahat Cowichan Valley Capitals (36-11-3) rivals.
The Grizzlies look to shake off the negative effect of a painful 4-3 loss in overtime at the hands of the Coquitlam Express, which saw the Grizzlies blow three separate leads en route to picking up an important point, but feeling as though one was left on the table.
With an Alberni Valley Bulldogs (23-23-3) loss last night in Nanaimo, the two squads are now tied for third in the Coastal West Division. That third spot sets up an inevitable meeting with the Nanaimo Clippers (26-17-5) in the first round. Victoria visits the league-leading Cowichan Valley Capitals tonight while the Alberni Valley Bulldogs host the Prince George Spruce Kings (31-15-3). Victoria holds a game in hand on the Bulldogs.
Victoria is 7-4-1 in their last 12 outing, making for their best stretch of hockey in the regular season, while on the other hand, Cowichan has lost two in a row for the first time this season. They were on the mainland last weekend and fell to Langley 5-3 on Friday before dropping the next night to Coquitlam 6-3. Cowichan did, however, clinch the Coastal Conference regular season title on Thursday evening when Prince George lost in Powell River.
Opening faceoff is at seven in Cowichan with the game available to listen to for free with Tom Wilke on the Grizzlies Audio Streaming App on Mixlr or live to view with a subscription to FloHockey.
