Victoria Grizzlies defenceman Carter Berger has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 28, the league announced Monday.
Berger piled up five goals and two assists for seven points on the Grizzlies three-game road trip this weekend.
The North Vancouver native had a goal and an assist on Friday in his teamโs 4-2 win over the league-leading Chilliwack Chiefs. On Saturday, he got Victoria on the board in a 4-2 road loss to the Merritt Centennials and he closed out his impressive week on Sunday with another two goals and an assist in the Grizzlies 6-2 win over the Surrey Eagles and was named the gameโs third star.
After his seven-point weekend, Berger, who recently committed to the University of Connecticut, now leads all BCHL defenceman with 23 points, five ahead of his closest competitor, and also leads all blueliners with 10 goals.
