Bohn’s four goals lead Grizzlies past Smoke Eaters

Four was fine for Owen Bohn, whose quartet of goals led the Victoria Grizzlies to a 7-2 B.C. Hockey League victory over the Trail Smoke Eaters at the Q Centre on Sunday. The 20-year-old from San Jose, California, has seven goals on the season.

Olivier Picard increased his team-leading total to 11 goals while NCAA Division 1 Boston University commit Jack Gorton had a five-point night with a goal and four assists. Defenceman Justin Gibson also scored for the hosts. Blueliner Hoyt Stanley, ranked for the 2023 NHL draft by Central Scouting, added two assists. Ridge Dawson and Adam Parsons replied for Trail (7-8-1).

Ansel Holt made 29 saves in goal for Victoria (7-6-3). Teagan Kendrick and former WHL Victoria Royals goaltender Keegan Maddocks were kept busy facing a combined 43 Victoria shots in the Smoke Eaters net. It was the Veterans Appreciation Game and the Grizzlies wore special third jerseys for the occasion.

The Grizzlies starts a five-game road trip in Wenatchee, Washington, against the Wild on Friday night.
