The Grizzlies are collecting non-perishable food items and/or monetary donations to help support our Island food banks at their game this Sunday, Oct.9th at 2:00pm at the Q Centre Arena when they will take on the Chilliwack Chiefs. The Five Hole for Food Challenge is presented by First West and its affiliated credit unions, Valley First Credit Union, Envision Financial, Enderby & District Credit Union and Island Savings.
Again this season, BCHL teams will try to top each other in the amount raised for their local food bank. The BCHL has collectively raised more than 30,000 pounds of food each of the last two seasons
Last year the Grizzlies team raised collected 900lbs of food to be donated to our local food banks and looks to at least double this amount this year.
As well to raise awareness about the most requested foods by our local food banks the Victoria Grizzlies are also running a social media contest and asking people to comment and/or post on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram the best types of food to donate and include the #WeAreGrizzlies hashtag.
