Grizzlies Cole Pickup to become a Maverick

The Victoria Grizzlies are proud to announce that local product, veteran winger, assistant captain and current longest standing Grizzlies player, Cole Pickup, has accepted a Division 1 NCAA hockey scholarship with the University of Nebraska Omaha for next four seasons, beginning 2017-2018.

Cole has worked extremely hard to get himself to the NCAA level; and this is well-deserved honor.

It was Cole’s relentless desire to win hockey games that attracted the Mavericks. Cole is a player that matches talent with a persistent ‘never give up’ work ethic.

As much of a positive impact Cole has made for the Grizzlies on the ice over the last four seasons, he has carried that work ethic into the community as well. Cole has put countless hours, representing the Grizzlies, working with youth and charities in our city and has worked hard to give back to the communities he grew up in.

Cole will be available for interview today beginning at 1:30-2:00 pm. We will have regular practice time today at 2:45-4:15.

This Grizzlies next home game is this Friday night at the Q Centre Arena when they begin a home and home battle vs their division rivals the Cowichan Capitals.
