Victoria, BC ~ The Victoria Grizzlies would like to issue the most sincere thank you to all of their; fans, sponsors, volunteers and staff for another splendid season of hockey in the Westshore. The end of a season is also hard however this summer promises to be the most exciting one in many years as new beginnings come around the corner.
Under the direction of new ownership, hockey in Victoria could not look more bright with many exciting announcements incoming including; commitments, seasons tickets and much more.
“I do it because I love building teams,” said Jim Hartshorne, new majority owner of the Victoria Grizzlies. “For me, growing sport is what it is all about. What sports teams mean to their local communities, especially in today’s world, it is more important than ever,” he continued.
Jim brings a culture of winning and excellence as seen with his success as an owner of the former WHL’s Victoria Cougars and as current owner of the Victoria Shamrocks. “I have a need to win. I am not a good loser. For me, when it comes to choosing an option, it is always option A. The Grizzlies are good, but we want to take them to great on the ice…..We want to triple the fan base,” Jim closed with.
Victoria closed out this season by falling in the second round to the BCHL regular season champions the Surrey Eagles in 6 games.
Victoria would like to also take a moment to wish the best of luck to our 20 year old’s and graduating players who have signed their letters of intent. We look forward to seeing what they do in the future as successful young men on and off the ice!
