Tony Rehm accepts scholarship to University Alaska-Fairbanks

The Victoria Grizzlies Junior ‘A’ hockey team are extremely proud to announce that Tony Rehm, 20 year old goalie from Sun Prairie, Wisconsin has accepted a NCAA Division 1 scholarship to the University Alaska-Fairbanks for 2017-18.

Tony was acquired via trade with the Brooks Bandits of the AJHL for Mitch Benson last season. He went on to play 18 games compiling a .923 save percentage and 2.51 goals against average.

In total the Grizzlies achieved 12 scholarships during the 2016-17 season which was fourth in the 17 team league. The other scholarships are: Matthew Galadja (Cornell), Keyvan Mokhtari (Colorado College), Drayson Pears (University Alaska-Anchorage), Cole Pickup (Nebraska-Omaha), Jamie Rome (Western Michigan), Jake Stevens (St. Lawrence), Tyler Welsh (Yale), Nick Guiney (Concordia University Wisconsin), Brett Stirling (Connecticut College), Cody Van Lierop (University of Ottawa), and Nathan Looysen (Brock University).

This accomplishment was aided through the hard work by Grizzlies Educational Advisor Butch Boucher and Academic Advisors Todd Feser and Paul Jaswal who work tirelessly behind the scenes assisting players in the pursuit of their goals in moving onwards to both Canadian (U Sport) and NCAA schools.
