WHAT A GAME

On Saturday night the Bear Mountain Arena was rock'n while 1452 fans watched their home town Grizzlies rebound with an impressive 7-2 victory.

Coming off a 2 -1 loss the night before against arch rival Cowichan, the Grizzlies aimed to split the home and home series.

Just like the night before the Grizzlies surrendered the games opening goal. But this time the Grizz came back with an inspired game by Team Captain Mark McLellan.   McLellan tied the game at one apiece midway through the first period with a nifty forehand backhand deke.

That goal fired up the fans and the Grizz and Jesse Schwartz found the twine with his first of two goals.

The Grizz never looked back and took it to the Caps scoring a team high 7 goals on home ice.

With the win the Grizz run their record to 12 – 7 – 2 – 1 solidifying their hold on second place in the Island Division.

Rookie tender Alec Dillon was solid between the pipes making 30 saves.

The Grizz top line of Schwartz, Gerry Fitzgerald and Mark McLellan lead the team collecting a combined 10 points on the night. The offensive outburst pushed veteran Centre Gerry Fitzgerald to the top of the BCHL scoring race.

The Grizz now head out on the road next weekend to face Chilliwack, Langley and Coquitlam in an all Lower Mainland battle.

The Grizzlies next home game is Wednesday November 20 against Cowichan.
