The highest-scoring team in the B.C. Hockey League taught the Victoria Grizzlies a lesson on Friday as the Salmon Arm Silverbacks peppered the visitors 5-1 at the Shaw Centre.

The Grizzlies are back at it tonight in Vernon before moving on to West Kelowna on Sunday.

Victoria is 2-10-0-2, while the Silverbacks improve to 9-3-2-0, averaging more than four goals a game. Jared Turcotte scored twice, including just 36 seconds in, while Taro Hirose, Ross Heidt and Colton Thibault added one each for Salmon Arm.

A pair of newcomers teamed up to get the lone Victoria goal as Colby Livingstone collected his first on an assist from Dante Hahn, who was acquired Thursday. —Times Colonist
