Victoria, BC ~ The Victoria Grizzlies allowed the Langley Rivermen to come back in the third period on Sunday afternoon, who ultimately won 7-3. Still, the blow was softened by welcoming into the Q Centre their largest crowd since March 30th, 2009.
The Grizzlies’ annual Teddy Bear Toss was touted as a game that was going to be a big one this season, and it did not disappoint, with plenty of excited fans, holiday cheer and of course stuffed animals a-flying. Owen Warnick’s 6th tally of the season at 18:29 of the first period not only tied the game at 1-1 at that point, but also was a moment to remember for many in attendance. The Q Centre found its life, and the 2,225 in attendance rose to their feet to chuck their stuffed animals on the ice.

The last time that Victoria saw a crowd like this was during their 2009 playoff run in game 7 of the second round against the Powell River Kings. Crowds of that size were more common at that point, and the Grizzlies hope that this unbelievable evening will begin a positive trend towards filling the Q on a nightly basis.
The franchise would like to thank all fans who came out to support the team and make this year’s Teddy Bear Toss a smashing success.
