First Overall Caps Host Grizzlies For Saturday Night Smash

Duncan, BC ~ The Victoria Grizzlies travel north to take on the Cowichan Valley Capitals tonight at 7:00 p.m., searching for their first win of the new year.

The Cowichan Valley Capitals have had a stellar start to their season, coming into tonight in first place in the BCHL with a 23-7-1 record. One of those losses came at the hands of the 14-15-1 Grizzlies (4-1) on October 10th. The Caps won the second meeting 4-2 on November 1st. Tonight will certainly be a tough task for the Grizzlies against a Cowichan team that has won six of its last seven going into the Christmas break.

Victoria looks to bounce back from a painful 11-2 loss on Thursday evening, which saw the Alberni Valley Bulldogs come into the Q Centre in Victoria and hand Victoria their worst loss since March 3, 2012. Notably, that loss was also to the Bulldogs, by a scoreline of 12-2. Victoria will need some short-term memory in order to shake off that difficult start to the New Year and get back to winning ways. They are also trying to turn the ship around during a 1-7-1 nine-game span.

The Grizzlies and Capitals meeting tonight is the first of five contests during the second half, meaning that these two squads will only have hatred and familiarity fester as the next three months go on.

Puck drop is at 7:00 p.m. from the Cowichan Community Arena, with the game available to listen to for free on the Grizzlies Audio Streaming App on Mixlr with Tom Wilke. You can also watch on FloHockey with a paid subscription or on a per-game basis.
