Training Camp Opens as Grizzlies Hit the Ice

The Victoria Grizzlies training camp is officially underway as the team gears up for what promises to be an exciting 2025-26 BCHL season.

More than 40 players hit the ice at The Q Centre Tuesday, eager to impress the coaching staff and earn their spot on the roster. From returning veterans to fresh-faced prospects, the energy around the rink was electric as players battle for ice time and aim to show they belong in black and gold this season.

“This is always one of the best times of the year,” said Head Coach and GM Geoff Grimwood. “The pace is high, the compete level is great, and you can feel the excitement from the players as we build toward opening night.”

Fans won’t have to wait long to see the Grizzlies in action. The club will host a pair of intrasquad games on Wednesday and Thusday at 7pm.  The games are free of charge and open to the public. The team’s preseason schedule kicks off this weekend, featuring three games in three days:

  • Friday – in Nanaimo to face the Clippers

  • Saturday – back home at The Q Centre to take on the Cowichan Valley Capitals

  • Sunday – an afternoon road game in Cowichan against the Capitals

Tickets for Saturday’s home exhibition are available now, offering fans their first chance to see some of this season’s new faces up close before the regular season begins.  Fans can also get their tickets for the Grizzlies home opener against the Alberni Valley Bulldogs.  Visit the box office or click tickets here on the website.
