The Victoria Grizzlies are excited to announce the signing of 2005-born defenceman Niklas Karjalainen to their roster for the 2025-26 BCHL season.
Karjalainen, who will turn 20 in November, joins the Grizzlies from the Jukurit U-20 club in Finland. In 79 career U-20 games in Finland, Niklas posted 12 goals and 27 assists for 39 points. The 6’2”, 220-pound rearguard also chipped in with 115 penalty minutes.
Grizzlies fans can expect a physical & competitive player to hit the ice at the Q Centre, according to Grizzlies head coach and general manager Geoff Grimwood. “Niklas is a defenceman we like. He’s excited to come to the BCHL and help us compete for a championship. His competitiveness and physicality stood out to us, and we’re excited to welcome him to Victoria.”
Karjalainen will join his new teammates for training camp after the Labour Day long weekend.
